Ankama has soft-launched cutesy gesture-based strategy game Tactile Wars in the New Zealand App Store and select regions on Google Play.

It brings all of the colour of Splatoon to touchscreens. That's on account of these wars being fought with paint rather than bullets.

OK, yeah, it's not quite squid ink, but there are paint guns and paint rollers in action here, similar to the different load-outs in Splatoon.

Plus, the idea is to eliminate the colour of your enemies. You have to hold on to territory against enemy turrets, tanks, and troops, overpowering them with your own colour of paint.

Of course, this being a game in a completely different genre, the similarities pretty much end there.

As in Tactile Wars you need to focus on drawing shapes on the screen with your finger to change the formation of your squad according to how the enemy attacks you.

If the numbing capitalist thrumming of Ad Astra or charming anachronisms of 80s Sci-Fi appeals to you then universe-sweeping real-time strategy game Chaotic Era from Bobby will be of interest to you.

That said, while the jarring flicker filters are added on, some of the design choices here are almost entirely necessary - Chaotic Era simulates the orbits within, and the growth of, the expanding universe, and the effects that the shifting space has on your continued expansion and exploitation of it.

We've finally been able to see a little bit more than the original teaser gave us. You might have seen it when it did the rounds - it showed a pipping beacon on a map, what looked like a station floating in space and what resembled a massive artificial creation, many times the size of a city. Needless to say, it didn't give us much to speculate on, but even then the poignant black-and-white visuals and echoey, ethereal soundtrack stood out.

Below is the first shown gameplay for Chaotic Era.

For a while, running Crysis on its highest settings was the way many people measured how good their PC was. This was perhaps the high point of the game's creator, Crytek.

Last year, Crytek was reported to be in some financial trouble. This was only known as the German company was saved by striking a major licensing deal. But with who? We didn't know.

It turns out that it was Amazon, according to Kotaku, who spoke to anonymous sources apparently in the know. And the deal was regarding Crytek's CryEngine, which it built between 2001 and 2004 to create games with.

The CryEngine includes a graphics renderer, a physics engine, and other development tools. The first game built with it was the original Far Cry on PC, back in 2004.

Anyway, what's more important is that the CryEngine is now, apparently, in the hands of Amazon.

As PocketGamer.biz reports, this comes after Amazon made other big pushes into game development recently.

That includes acquiring livestreaming service Twitch, Killer Instinct developer Double Helix, and launching its Android-based hardware Amazon Fire TV.

We also know that Amazon Game Studios is working with developers to create mobile games for its Fire phones and tablets - WayForward's Til Morning's Light being one of them.

Obviously, Amazon is looking to get into the gaming sphere big time. It already has its Amazon App Store, as I'm sure most Android players are already familiar with.

But what would it use CryEngine for? Speculation suggests that it could be looking to make its own games using the engine.

It's certainly possible despite the CryEngine really being made for PC. Only last year Crytek released The Collectables, which is a mobile game built with the CryEngine.

Or perhaps Amazon will distribute CryEngine to studios under the deal that they make games for its stores and hardware. We're yet to see but it's all possible.
The Grid Mod The Grid 2.4.3 Mod everything is open Features:everything is openThe Grid is an amazing action packed 2D side-scrolling adventure game from Ape Apps. Captain Jim had no fish. He seldom went out in his boat that summer, and his long tramping expeditions were over. He spent a great deal of his time sitting by his seaward window, looking out over the gulf, with his swiftly-whitening head leaning on his hand. He sat there tonight for many silent minutes, keeping some tryst with the past which Anne would not disturb. Presently he pointed to the iris of the West:
To put the by-past perils in her way?
